Benelli SBE II Help
« on: March 11, 2012, 01:40:41 PM »
Maybe this is a stupid question, but I can't find the answer in my manual, on the internet anywhere, or from anybody I know. I'm attempting to mount a red dot scope to my SBE II, but I can't figure out how to remove the screws from the top of the action. They don't appear to have any sort of slotting on the outside or inside of the action. So, what the hell?

Thanks.

All four of them need to come out for my scope mounts.

:chuckle: CRAZY :dunno: Maybe the paint is covering the slots. Just take a punch with a sharp tip and very, very lightly tap it in a angle at the edge of the screw to see if it turns. If that doesn't work call Benelli tomorrow morning and talk to there gun smith.

Are you sure they aren't rivets?  You might have to have them drilled out and tapped for mount screws.
 I was thinking the same thing, but that would be dumb of benelli

When I look from the inside, I see threads. I'll try tapping on it. Maybe paint is covering the slot. Very confusing deal. This is more confusing than the damn action...which seems like it should be more complicated.

Apparently the 93A weaver rail is supposed to be the ticket. It looks like you drill and tap holes from everything I can find. I googled it.

I'm going to call Benelli tomorrow (I was an hour too late today). I don't really want to tap into my barrel. Sounds scary...and would be spendy if I screwed up.

I figured it out. Kinda feel like an idiot now...but those guys on the other forum who drilled and tapped theirs are really dumb. The pictures I posted are not screws like I thought. They are plastic plugs that you push out to reveal a tapped hole. Crisis averted. Thanks for the help anyway.
